Data Systems Specialist I

Reports To: MIS Director Salary Grade: 16 FLSA: Non-Exempt
Annualized Salary Range: $19,297 to $27,152


Primary Function: Responsible for reviewing and processing information between payer and sites to insure accurate reporting of clients and encounter data. Acts as central contact for processing of client information. Provides technical assistance and training to site personnel.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED preferred, (2) years experience necessary in automated information systems, databases and system analysis.

Competencies:

? Knowledge in utilization of personal computer and intermediate Microsoft office, specialized software, CMHC, PACE and outpatient paperwork.
? Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
? Ability to maintain confidentiality of all client matters and handle organization confidential matters with discretion.
? Ability to keypunch data.
? Ability to maintain organization of varied materials and apply complex directions quickly and correctly.
? Ability to prepare records of all client activity(ies).
? Ability to maintain current knowledge of computerized client system and related reporting requirements mandated by the organization’s funding sources.
? Ability to process requests for payments received to funding sources as needed.
? Ability to process and maintain facility accounts for audit trail purposes, including verifying, locating and filing audit documentation.
? Knowledge of behavioral health managed care principles and practices


Tasks:
? Provides technical assistance to sites on payer requirements and paper flow.
? Trains sites on data intake and closure requirements.
? Monitors returns and processes information for corrective action by sites.
• Responsible for report, and system reconciliation on CMHC.
• Responsible for audit and reconciliation of all information going out to outside funding sources.
• Liaison between CPSA and sites for various activities and information requirements.

? Assure prompt, accurate billing and posting facility service activity and client information through automated client, billing, and accounting system(s). Includes preparation and coding of all service and client accounts records for computer input.
? Compiles and analyze information to complete and process forms related to client activity, service activity logs, and facility expenses.
? Acquires and maintains current knowledge of all funding source reporting requirements and procedures.
? Assists in specials projects as required by the Director of MIS and/or MIS Director.
? Performs other duties as assigned.

Accountability: Data Systems Specialist I will work under the immediate supervision, following detailed instructions. This position holds no supervisory responsibility, responsible for own work only.

Continuous Education: Employees will be expected to participate in continuous learning,
competence building and maintenance of skills. New employees are required to complete forty-eight hours of skill training the first year and twenty-four hours per year thereafter.

Physical Requirements:
• Use a Personal Computer of telephone over five hours a day
• Occasional reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling or crouching
• Infrequent physical effort (infrequent lift/carry up to 25 pounds)
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle
