IT Network Administrator

Reports To: IT Supervisor Salary Grade: 30 FLSA: Exempt
Annualized Salary Range: $38,206 to $53,760


Primary Function: Plan, implement, manage, and administer the SEABHS Local Area Networks and Wide Area Network in a multiple server and multiple operating system environment.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information science or related field and five years of LAN/Wan administration experience in a Windows environment. Certification as a Microsoft Certified Professional in Windows or certification in Microsoft Certified Microsoft Systems Engineer (MCSE) with administrative experience in Windows environment. OR education and experience equivalent to nine years and certification. Previous experience using CMHC MIS applications and familiarity with the CMHC database structure is highly desirable.

• Experience must include MS Exchange Server 2000, Internet/Firewall, Crisco Routers and Switches, MS Windows 2000/NT Server and workstations, TCP/IP network configuration and routing, and in-house cat 5 wiring.

• Experienced in UNIX server hardware and software administration.

Tasks:
• Analyzes, designs, manages, and supports internal local area networks, wide area networks, and external (Internet) access.

• Responsible for installation, configuration, maintenance and upgrades to networked workstations, servers, and routing equipment, including hardware, operating systems, and application software.

• Performs Network trouble shooting to isolate and diagnose problems while maintaining minimal system outages.

• Establishes and maintains network user profiles, user environment, directories, and security.

• Implements and administers organizational wide e-mail system utilizing MS Exchange 2000. Provides procedures and standards regarding proper maintenance and use of this service.

• Designs and executes backup, disaster recovery, and security procedures to ensure privacy, security, and availability of networked resources.

• Ensures IT security and networking policies and procedures are understood and followed by all end-users; trains end-users as required.

• Ensures copyrights and privacy rights are protected.

• Designs and insures maintenance of assets and copyrighted material libraries; establishes hardware and software inventory libraries requirements, with regard to asset management and license copyright protections, and technical support needs for the technical support and programming staff.

• Maintains security and virus protection (external threats): secures network from external and internal threats including unauthorized user and viruses, by configuring access control, intrusion detections, and virus scanning software. Monitors daily or as needed for breaches. Works with HIPAA standards.

• Participates in the planning of infrastructure to support new applications and technologies.

• Participates in performance improvement activities as needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Continuous Education: Employees will be expected to participate in continuous learning, competency building, and maintenance of skills. New employees, specifically, who provide direct services, require forty-eight hours of skill training the first year and twenty-four hours per year thereafter.

Physical Requirements:
• Use of PC, computer terminal and/or telephone over five hours a day.
