Clinical Supervisor

Reports To: Program Coordinator Salary Grade: 32 FLSA: Exempt
Annualized Salary Range: $42,122 to $65,345


Primary Function: Responsible for the coordination and supervision of clinical services for a designated site or region within the context of the system-wide protocol in collaboration with the Clinic Director. Family Team participates in clinical staffing, planning and review of client records in accordance with FAMILY TEAM.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in social work, psychology or counseling and licensed by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners or eligible and becoming licensed within six months of hire. Requires a minimum of two years experience in the behavioral health field, preferably in a managed care setting. Doctoral degree in psychology, counseling or related field may substitute for experience. Must be fingerprint certified or able to be certified, in accordance with the Arizona Department of Public Safety requirements.

• Demonstrated willingness and ability to project a professional demeanor when representing the agency, during community assignments, or within collegial relationships within the agency.

Tasks:

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides specialized clinical services as necessary.
• Reviews client assessments for appropriateness of diagnosis and assigns cases to service providers.
• Assures clinical components, such as ISPs, progress notes, SALs, and other required paperwork, are complete and within contract timelines/standards.
• Determines appropriateness of discharge and discharge planning activities.
• Conducts case reviews and coordinates activities of service providers to accurately assess medical necessity and facilitate quality care.
• Facilitates implementation of FAMILY TEAM/ principles into day-to-day service delivery.
• Conducts clinical supervision within FAMILY TEAM principles/concepts within a managed care operation. Submits clinical supervision to HR per policy.
• Provides clinical supervision and conducts clinical review of after-hours crisis services, as assigned.
• Assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of site programs in collaboration with the Program Coordinators.
• Clinical supervisors work in Family Team with FAMILY TEAM coaches to ensure fidelity to FAMILY TEAM practices and implementation.
• Family Team participates with the Program Coordinator in conducting performance evaluations of service providers in accordance with personnel policies and procedures.
• Assists Program Coordinator with projects as assigned.
• Family Team participates in system-wide meetings as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
• Responsible to collaborate/communicate with PC to identify, put in place performance improvement plan, and monitor performance issues and to follow HR policies and procedures for corrective action.
• May be assigned to cover for the Program Coordinator in his/her absence.
• Be familiar with and comply with all relevant agency policies, state and federal statutes and regulations.
• Assesses individual and staff training needs and delivers or coordinates training opportunities in collaboration with the Program Coordinators.
• Works in conjunction with MDs for assessing/assuring evaluations and follow-up medications services.

Accountability: Reports to and is supervised directly by the Program Coordinator. Supervisor is accountable for understanding, implementing and complying with policies and procedures of FAMILY TEAM standards and principles, terms of certification, licensure and accreditation standards.

Continuous Education: Employees will be expected to participate in continuous learning, competency building, and maintenance of skills. New employees, specifically who provide direct services, require forty-eight hours of skill training the first year and twenty-four hours per year thereafter.

Physical Requirements:
• Use a PC, computer terminal and/or telephone up to five hours a day

• Frequent standing or moving throughout facility

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in structured environments, office, community, client’s homes and a variety of settings. When dispatched to private homes, provisions for safety are prearranged. Working hours are flexible in order to ensure accessible services to clients, families and other agencies (i.e. some meetings may occur prior to 8:00a.m., after 5 p.m., or on weekends, etc.) Working conditions with some disagreeable factors present such as poor ventilation, uneven temperature, excessive noise, or exposure to external elements.

Performance Metrics:
• Supervision hours met. (4 hr/month for full time clinical staff)
• 90-100% Contract Compliance
• Staff training hours 48 the first years, 24 thereafter.
• Peer Review Score of 80% or better in accordance with the PSO privileging policy.
• 100% Employee evaluations completed in 60 days
• Completion of staff peer reviews or initial observations for PSO within 60 days of hire of due date.

Mentor Criteria:
• A mentor will be personable and patient, with good, open communication skills. A mentor will be knowledgeable in SEABHS systems and procedures. A mentor will be a self motivated individual with the ability to positively support their peers.

Mentor Scope of Responsibility:
• A mentor provides side by side, hands on shadowing, with consistent and constructive feedback. The mentor oversees accuracy, as well as verbal and visual skills with on-going communication to the direct supervisor.
